In the case, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.illinoiscourts.gov\/Opinions\/AppellateCourt\/2015\/3rdDistrict\/3130613.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Moon v. Rhode<\/a><\/em>, the plaintiff was the son of a woman who died while in the care of the defendant doctors.<\/p>\n<p>According to the court\u2019s written opinion, the plaintiff\u2019s mother was in the care of the defendant doctors for 11\u00a0days preceding her death. At some point in that period, a CT scan was conducted and the results examined by one of the defendant doctors. Action was not taken after reviewing the results, and several days later the woman passed.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiff obtained medical records one year after his mother\u2019s death. Three years after that, he contacted a medical expert, who opined that any \u201creasonably, well-qualified radiologist and physician would have identified\u201d a\u00a0breakdown in anastomosis, which ultimately contributed to the death of his mother.
