This issue was identified through environmental monitoring conducted by the FDA during a site inspection, which resulted in a positive finding for Listeria monocytogenes on a piece of equipment. Fresh & Ready Foods has taken immediate corrective actions including removing equipment to address this issue to ensure ongoing food safety and compliance with FDA guidance.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, a Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

While no illnesses have been reported related to the specific products distributed between 04/18/2025 and 04/28/2025 as listed below, this action is being taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the continued safety of our consumers.

Affected Fresh & Read foods in plastic containers include the Breakfast Bistro Box, Antipasto Bistro Box, Artisan Cheese Bistro Box, Veggie Snack Bistro Box, Protein Snack, Caprese Baguette, Italian Ciabatta Sandwich, Thai Chicken on Ciabatta Sandwich, Turkey & Cheese Croissant Sandwich, Chicken Salad Croissant Sandwich, Dark Wheat Sandwich, Ham & Cheese Dark Wheat Sandwich, El Cubano Sandwich, Turkey & Cheese Focaccia Sandwich, Ham & Cheese Mega Sandwich, Mega Italian Sandwich, Turkey Multigrain Sandwich, Turkey & Cheese Multigrain Sandwich, Tuna Salad Multigrain Sandwich, Chicken Salad Multigrain Sandwich, Roasted Chicken Multigrain Sandwich, Turkey & Bacon Club Multigrain Sandwich, Pretzel Bun Sandwich, Mike’s Tuna Mac Pasta, Garlic Pesto Pasta, Almonds & Chocolate Snack, Corn Dipper Snack, Turkey & Cheese Sub Sandwich, Ham & Cheese Sub Sandwich, Italian Hoagie Sandwich, Sub Club Supreme, Beef Cheesesteak Sub Sandwich, Turkey & Cheese on Wheat, Ham & Cheese on Wheat, and many others (such as those branded City Point Market and Fresh Take Crave Away).

If you’ve bought any of the affected items, you should check the use by date and you should not eat the item. However, if you’ve already consumed one of these items and developed listeriosis, you should call our attorneys to see whether you have a viable claim against Fresh & Ready. Symptoms of listeriosis include fever, muscle aches, diarrhea, nausea; severe cases may lead to confusion, loss of balance, convulsions, and headache. Children, the elderly, and pregnant women may be more vulnerable to severe symptoms. Severe cases may necessitate expensive medical care, and in such cases, it could be important to bring a product liability lawsuit to recover compensation.
