Peloton has recalled over 2 million of their exercise bikes due to issues with the seat of the bike. After assembly, the seat may break during use, causing injuries to the user. Reports of injuries have included bruising and wrist fracture. The model being recalled is the Model PL01, which was sold between January 2018 to May 2023, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

If you or a loved one have been injured from using a Peloton exercise bike, or any Peloton exercise equipment, please contact Moll Law Group at 312.462.1700 or complete our form at molllawgroup.com.

Contact Moll Law Group About Your Defective Peloton Exercise Equipment

Peloton revolutionized the workout industry by offering home exercise equipment, such as
treadmill and bikes, paired with virtual, membership based workout classes. This niche allowed
for a rise in popularity during the pandemic, when most in-person workout classes were
canceled. The recall of Peloton exercise bikes is a voluntary recall that is being done in
cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The
exercise bikes being recalled are produced in Taiwan and were sold for $1,400 between 2018
and 2023.

To see if your Peloton exercise bike is the model being recalled, look for the model type located
on the inside front fork, near the flywheel. This is located near the red “P” logo on the bike’s
frame. The model being recalled is the PL-01 bike.

In order to remedy the situation, Peloton has offered a free repair to the potentially hazardous
bike seat. If you have had issues with the bike seat on your Model PLO1 Peloton exercise bike,
stop use immediately and contact Peloton directly to be sent a free seat that can be self-
installed. The recall only applies to products sold in the United States, not Peloton products sold
internationally.

You can read more about the Peloton bike recall on the company’s website here, or, from the official press release of the CPSC here.
