The Ninja pressure cookers can be used for many different tasks, including air frying. You should check whether your pressure cooker is one of the affected SharkNinja pressure cookers. These were able to be found for around $200 at both physical and online stores of Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon, Target, and Walmart between January 2019 and March 2025. Sadly, the lids of these pressure cookers are dangerous. They can pop open even when the pressure cooker function is being used. It’s possible for hot food to escape and burn a consumer’s face or body. These burn injuries can be second or third-degree burns.

The pressure cookers are black, capable of holding 6.5 quarters, and have “Ninja” printed on them. The SharkNinja model numbers are OP300, OP301, OP301A, OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HCN, OP302HAQ, OP302HW, OP302HB, OP305, OP305CO and OP350CO. The model numbers are printed on labels on the sides of the cookers. Sometimes a number is appended to the end of the model number, but you should stop using your booker if you see any of the model numbers, irrespective of whether other numbers are added at the end of them. You should also not use a OP300 series replacement pressure cooker lids that you purchased as another part for your pressure cooker; these are also part of the recall.

Approximately 106 people have reported burn injuries from using the SharkNinja. For more than 50 of them, these were not minor burns, but instead second or third degree burns to the face of body. About 20 lawsuits were filed.

You should not use the pressure-cooking function of your SharkNinja until you receive and implement a free replacement lid, which you can request from SharkNinja. The company has said that functions other than pressure cooking, like air frying, can still be used.

Product Liability Lawsuits Around the Country

As a consumer who has suffered burn injuries, you may not find that a replacement lid is sufficient to compensate you for your losses. Often serious burn injuries are expensive, and they can be catastrophic, meaning that they can dramatically alter your life. For instance, a burn on the can be disfiguring and change career prospects for a young woman who was planning to be a model or actress and cause severe distress.

You may be able to pursue recourse against the manufacturer by bringing a product liability lawsuit for damages. Our lawyers would need to establish that the pressure cooker was defective in one of three ways—in terms of its design, marketing, or manufacturing. Design defects are those flaws that exist in the specifications for making the product. Consequently, they exist in every unit of the product. Manufacturing defects, meanwhile, are typically found only in a few batches of a product; they are flaws that occur in the manufacturing process, sometimes due to deviations from the design.
